Pool Decks & Surrounds

Pool deck coatingsbuilt for bare feet.

A textured, UV-stable finish that stays put when it is wet, holds its color through an Idaho summer, and does not scald the bottom of your feet in August.

Coated pool deck with a cedar pergola and lawn

Bare pool concrete is the worst surface in the yard.

  • It gets slick the moment it is wet, right where people run.
  • Plain concrete soaks up sun and gets too hot to stand on.
  • Chlorine, sunscreen and hard water stain it permanently.
  • Freeze and thaw cycles spall the surface and it only spreads.

What we put down instead.

  • Full-broadcast flake gives the surface real texture, so it has grip wet or dry.
  • A UV-stable polyaspartic topcoat that will not yellow or chalk in full sun.
  • The flake reflects more light than gray concrete, so the deck runs cooler.
  • Sealed against chlorine, sunscreen, and the hard water we all have here.

FAQ

Straight answers.

Is a coated pool deck slippery when wet?

It is less slippery than bare troweled concrete. The full-broadcast flake creates texture across the whole surface, which is what gives it grip. If you want more, we can add an anti-slip additive to the topcoat, and around a pool we usually recommend it.

Will it get hot in the summer?

Cooler than the bare gray slab it replaces. Lighter flake blends reflect more sunlight than plain concrete. It is not a shaded surface and no coating makes it one, but the lighter colors make a real difference in August.

Will chlorine and pool chemicals damage it?

No. The polyaspartic topcoat is what handles that. Chlorinated water, sunscreen, and hard water spots sit on the surface and rinse off instead of soaking into the concrete.

Can you coat a deck that is already cracked or spalling?

Usually yes. We repair cracks and chips as part of the prep. Badly spalled concrete where the surface is failing across a large area may need more work first, and we will tell you that at the estimate rather than after.

How long before we can swim again?

Most decks take light foot traffic the day after the topcoat goes down. We will give you the exact timeline for your job before we start.
